Why should SUVs have all the fun? Powerful, sporty, and built for tackling the great outdoors, the 2018 Golf Alltrack also has loads of storage space and great fuel efficiency. And unlike most SUVs, every single Golf Alltrack comes standard with Volkswagen's popular 4MOTION all-wheel drive system. Paired with its powerful 1.8L TSI turbocharged engine, the Golf Alltrack was made for adventure (although it is fun to drive to the supermarket, too).

The Golf Alltrack isn't your grandparents' wagon. Its sleek good looks and raised ground clearance will turn heads and get you up a muddy mountain path in style. But since it is a wagon, you'll have tons of space to bring your outdoor gear. And with the rear seats folded down, the Golf Alltrack is downright cavernous so you can be well equipped for just about any adventure. As Dr. Suess said, "Oh, the places you'll go!"

Each Golf Alltrack comes with VW's 1.8L TSI turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. It's quick, powerful, and practical, churning out 170 HP and 199 lb.-ft. of torque while achieving up to 32 MPG highway* with the manual transmission.

Speaking of transmissions, auto purists will love switching gears on the sporty 6-speed manual that comes standard. For those who want to keep both hands on the wheel, the available smooth-shifting 6-speed DSG automatic transmission with Tiptronic and Sport Mode will be a perfect match.

4MOTION All-Wheel Drive

Volkswagen's 4MOTION system deftly transfers torque between the front and rear wheels, effortlessly giving you the right amount of traction in any given driving situation. During normal driving conditions, power gets delivered to the front wheels to maximize fuel efficiency. But when rear traction is needed for rough or slippery roads, 4MOTION has it covered by delivering needed torque to the rear axle.

The Golf Alltrack's Driving Mode Selection with Off-Road Mode keeps you in control no matter the driving condition or road surface. Its Hill Descent Control allows you to comfortably drive down steep grades.

The Golf Alltrack can give you a little bit or a lot of luxury with its three available trims:

S - Just because this starting trim was built for the outdoors doesn't mean the experience has to be rustic. You get swanky amenities like heated front seats, LED daytime running lights, a 6.5" Composition Color touchscreen sound system, 17" Valley alloy wheels, and silver roof rails.

SE - When you step up to this trim, you add a gorgeous power tilting/sliding panoramic sunroof, 8" touchscreen sound system, VW Car-Net App-Connect, heated side mirrors with integrated turn signals and heated windshield washer nozzles.

SEL - You don't typically associate the rugged outdoors with premium luxury, but when you step up to this trim you certainly will. The SEL trim adds upscale features like dual-zone climate control, Adaptive Cruise Control, Park Steering Assistant, and 18" Canyon alloy wheels.

Sure, driving the Golf Alltrack is a blast, but it's also got you covered with a host of available safety features, including:

Adaptive Cruise Control - This available feature helps maintain a preset distance from the vehicle in front of you. If the detected vehicle slows down or speeds up, your Golf Alltrack follows suit.

Front Assist - This available suite of features includes Forward Collision Warning, which can help monitor traffic and alert you of an oncoming collision with the vehicle ahead of you. If it senses that a collision is imminent, Autonomous Emergency Braking can help you increase brake pressure or can apply the brakes automatically in some cases. Pedestrian Monitoring can detect and warn you of pedestrians crossing in front of you, and can brake automatically if needed.

Rear Traffic Alert - This available feature uses sensors that can alert you to vehicles crossing your path as you reverse, and can brake automatically if needed.

Park Assist - This available feature can let you know if a parking spot is large enough for your Golf Alltrack. It can then help steer your vehicle into a parallel or perpendicular space. You control the gas, brake and shifter - the system will do the rest.

Lane Assist - This available feature will warn you if you start to drift into another lane without using your turn signal. It may even be able to help steer you back into your correct lane.

Light Assist - This available system won't keep you in the dark. It helps give you better visibility on dark roads by activating the high beams at certain speeds. It also turns the high beams off when it senses another car approaching you or driving in front of you.

So while the Golf Alltrack was built for adventure, you'll find lots to love even if you're not the outdoorsy type. Its plentiful power, spacious cargo capacity, all-wheel drive grip, and plentiful available safety features make it very appealing to drivers just headed to the grocery store. Of course, if you need to take a steep gravel road to get to the grocery store, Golf Alltrack is totally up for that. Come take one for a test drive at Darling's Volkswagen in Bangor today!
